Scheduled air access is via Grand Bahama Island International Airport in Freeport (FPO), which is 26 miles from West End.  The airport is serviced by American Eagle, Silver Airways, Delta, Bahamasair, and others including several charter operations.
 
Check with your travel professional, or the Old Bahama Bay reservation agents for the latest flight information.
 
You are able to book your flights at the same time as your hotel suite through our US Reservations office on 888.983.6188. Old Bahama Bay will arrange airport taxi service for you.  Simply provide your flight number and arrival time when making your hotel reservation and we will arrange taxi service for you.  Taxi fare is $70 each way for 2 persons and $5 for every extra person and can be paid directly to driver or added to your hotel bill.  Airport is 26 miles from resort and drive takes approximately 45 minutes. Rental Cars are also available at the airport and in West End.  Driving is on the LEFT side of the road.

 
West End Airport
The West End Airport (MYGW) is a private airport which services Old Bahama Bay's guests and residences.  The West End Airport opens Old Bahama Bay Resort & Yacht Harbour and the idyllic destination of West End, Grand Bahama Island to private pilots and charter operators.  Just 56 miles from Palm Beach, Florida and with 6,000 feet of paved runway, the West End Airport is a pilot’s dream. 
 
The airport is a daytime only, VFR only, operation. No instrument approaches are available and no night landings/takeoffs are permitted. The airport is open 7 days a week from 8 am to 5 pm.  The ICAO code is MYGW and the IATA code is WTD.
 
Only aircraft which have been pre-approved by West End Airport Management and Bahamas ATC may land. This requires that the registration/tail number of the aircraft be submitted and approved. Landing fees are $300 per plane. Please call ahead for possible group rates.
No fuel, GPU or aircraft tug services are currently available. Maximum aircraft landing weight limits apply. Contact airport management for further information.

WEST END AIRPORT MANDATORY OPERATING PROCEDURES
 

Access by Sea
Old Bahama Bay is a favorite among Florida boaters and boat clubs with current charts and gps systems offering known routes direct to the marina's deep water entry, from most all Florida locations. For the most pleasant voyages, travel with a light southerly or west wind. Old Bahama Bay offers a full service marina with fresh fuel. Navigational Tips
Daylight approach: From a distance of a 5 miles, a red and white stripped water tower identifies West End. Closer in, two entry jetties mark the entrance to the marina. There is a 30 foot weather service monitoring tower at the tip of the portside jetty.
 
Night time approach: Red & Green navigation lights at the end of the entry jetties are visible from approximate 3-5 miles.

The out-island nature of West End provides Old Bahama Bay with natural features not found elsewhere in the Bahamas and the the Caribbean. Old Bahama Bay is home to one of the most beautiful, undisturbed beaches in the world, featuring a gentle arc of white-powdered sand, fringed with palms. The varying water depths, proximity of the Gulfstream and nearby magnificent reef formations create unparalleled beauty, and water sport experiences.  Fishermen can select their sport of choice from world-class bone fishing, bountiful reef fishing, and exceptional deep-sea fishing. Out of the water, guests have the option to explore the island, enjoy a massage, play a game of tennis, or simply watch the ripples in the sea as the sun sets. Enjoy your choice of of one or two activities on each excursion: from private island tours, beach picnics (food & beverage not included), stingray feedings, snorkeling, and/or yellowtail fishing.

Details on each are:
Snorkel Trips - Snorkeling trips can be arranged to a nearby shipwreck and neighboring cays (destination depends on weather). Snorkel equipment and non-alcoholic drinks included. You’ll see starfish, stingrays, moray eels, parrot fish, sea turtles, staghorn and Elkhorn corals and so much more.

Fishing - Head out with a local guide to find the best reef fishing spots in and around West End.
Native Fishing Adventure – Full day includes diving for conch and lobster and fishing plus cleaning and cooking the catch. Unforgettable day out.  Catch can be taken to Teasers to have it prepared as a meal for an additional fee.

Private Island Picnic - Visit a deserted island with nothing but snorkeling gear and a picnic.  Participate in making fresh conch salad and play with the local stingrays.  A truly memorable day out.

MARINA
The Old Bahama Bay Marina is located in West End, Grand Bahama Island, only 56 miles from Palm Beach, FL.  The facility is a full-service marina destination with 72-slips with a controlling depth of 8 feet at mean low tide and 24-hour security.
 
One of the only night navigable nautical points of entry in the Bahamas, Old Bahama Bay offers quick and efficient on-site Bahamian Customs and Immigration. Its state-of-the-art facilities make Old Bahama Bay the ideal haven for transient and long-term marina guests.
 
The Marina at Old Bahama Bay is the perfect destination for boating flings and rendezvous. Group rates are available and our staff can arrange group activities, beach cookouts, mini-tournaments - whatever your group is looking for! Group rates are also available in our luxury resort accommodations.

Resort Fee: All dockage only reservations are subject to $20 per night resort fee when staying in their boat.
Fees - Bahamas fishing fee, cruising permit and vessel clearance for boats 30 feet and under is $150, over 30 feet is $300.  These fees cover entry for up to 3 people.  Additional passengers are charged $25.  The fees cover two entries into The Bahamas within a 90 day period. Customs only accepts cash payments
 
Dockage - 72 slips with dockage accommodating vessels up to 120'; 30' minimum fee
 
Vessel Check-In - After clearing, all vessels check-in with the Dockmaster on Ch. 16 for slip assignment and to register either on board or at the Front Desk. Check in hours: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.

Pet Policy - Old Bahama Bay is a pet friendly resort.  Boaters arriving with pets are asked to follow Bahamas regulations.  People desiring to bring their cat or dog and stay in a room are asked for a $200 refundable advance deposit to pay for any damage done by the pet. One pet, with no size restrictions, is allowed per room. The room is inspected upon departure before the deposit is cancelled.  Pets must meet Bahamian traveling regulations.
 
Groups - Boaters interested in organizing flings, rendezvous and other group activities should contact groups@obbresort.com. Group rates are available starting at just 10 slips and/or hotel rooms.
 
Blue Flag Marina - Old Bahama Bay was the first Bahamas marina to earn the Blue Flag accreditation. If boaters want an Individual Blue Flag membership, they can request an application from the Old Bahama Bay Marina.  A Blue Flag Membership costs $25.00. Old Bahama Bay participates in the Shark-Free Marina Initiative.  Its purpose is to reduce worldwide shark mortality. It encourages shark conservation at sport fishing and resort marinas by prohibiting the landing of any shark at the participating marina. Its goal is to work with, not against, the recreational and commercial fishing community.
With this initiative, fishermen will not be allowed to bring sharks into a Shark-Free Marina for any photographic or trophy display purposes or for any cleaning or processing of the shark for fins, meat, jaws, or any other by-product. Participating marinas encourages fishermen who are determined to fish for sharks to exercise safe catch-and-release techniques.
