DESTINATION

Heritage Bel Ombre

The Mauritius Kitesurf World Cup will take place on Heritage Bel Ombre, a splendid domain snuggled between the island's southernmost hills and the ocean. This fabulous playground shelters one of the most beautiful lagoons of the island and a 1,300-hectare reserve.

Accommodation on Heritage Bel Ombre includes two five-star resorts – Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Wellness Resort, a wellness resort spread over a large area of tropical gardens ensuring privacy, Heritage Awali Golf Spa Resort labeled as the best 5-star all-inclusive in Mauritius - and Heritage The Villas catering as a hotel residence for larger groups and families and offering stunning views over the adjoining nature reserve and the Indian Ocean. Heritage Resorts guests gain access to a championship golf course, spa facilities, a variety of restaurants and bars, nature activities, as well as a gourmet restaurant and wine cellar set in a historic 19th-century mansion.

The spot

With consistent winds, large flat water lagoons, some of the best waves in the world, Mauritius becomes the ultimate kitesurfing destination from June to October.

Bel Ombre spot showcases one of the most unspoiled and healthy lagoons in Mauritius, with amazing underwater biodiversity, protected and overlooked by local NGO Reef Conservation.

This spacious lagoon offers protected flat water on the inside as well as waves further out on the reef which protects the entire bay. The wind here generally blows side to side-onshore from the left and the combination of the flat-water lagoon and waves make Bel Ombre suitable for a range of skill levels and riding styles, with a windy season carrying on until a little later in the year.
