About the Island of Taha'a

 
The island of Taha'a, formerly called Upolu, is located in the Society Islands and shares the same lagoon as the island of Raiatea. Raiatea played a major role in Polynesian migrations throughout the Pacific Ocean and is still an important historical and cultural center, witness of well-alive civilization and traditions.
 
Taha'a is symbolically called the Vanilla Island. It is on these fertile lands that the Tahitian vanilla is cultivated to become one of the best and most fragrant one, sought after by the best Chefs around the world. Tahitian pearls are also produced in Taha'a. A few pearl farms have found their shelter in the island's pure waters.
 
A sojourn in Taha'a is an experience out of the ordinary. The island is blessed with lush mountains and valleys, turquoise lagoons, virgin "motu" islets. Taha'a has it all! The Vanilla Island has kept this Polynesian flair, and its inhabitants share a way of life that has remained truly authentic, away from busy Tahiti… Fishing, vanilla, pearl farms, agriculture, and tourism are part of their daily lives. There is something magical and poetic about Taha'a, and it just seems like time has stopped, allowing each and everyone to enjoy this land of beauty at their own pace.
 
 

THE RESORT

Le Taha'a Island Resort & Spa is a 5-star property, located on a "motu" islet, a 35-minute navigation from the Raiatea Airport (transfers operated by the resort's shuttle boats) and a 5-minute boat ride from the village of Tapuamu (free transfers from the resort) on the main island of Taha'a. The ultimate way to connect between Taha'a and Bora is definitely by helicopter! Beyond being an easy and quick transfer, this 14-minute flight will be an excursion of pure beauty as you fly above the stunningly gorgeous Tahitian lagoons.

Our lifestyle: genuinely Polynesian, purely authentic! 
 
The Owners' wish was to keep the resort as natural and as green as possible. The whole resort was built around the existing vegetation. You will discover beautiful old trees, colorful flowers, and plants, something quite unusual on a "motu", thanks to the use of seaweed as fertilizers. 
 
You will see no club cars traveling around the property. The setting is all harmony with nature… Serene…

With 3 restaurants on-site, initiate your palate to subtle delicacies from the world… 
You will be pleasantly surprised to find such variety on such a small island… 
 
For any dietary requests, please advise us in advance so that our Chef may arrange it at best to suit your needs. 
 
Special arrangements for romantic dinners, private picnics, or more can be made upon request.

 

The Ohiri Restaurant

The Ohiri Restaurant is the resort's gourmet and gourmands dining option. The Chef will delight you with some creative French- Polynesian fusion cuisine. And the Sommelier with the selection of varied and reputed wines from our cellar.
 
The atmosphere is nice and cozy, warm, and romantic… 
Reservations are required. 
 
The Ohiri can be privatized for families or groups. Dress code: Island Chic (no shorts nor flip flops) 
 
Dinner is served from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm. 
 
The Ohiri Restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays and also from January 10th to February 10.

 

The Bars

The Manuia Bar is open from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. 
 
Located by the La Plage restaurant, the Manuia Bar (and swim-up bar) is the ideal place for a nice refreshing cocktail as you lounge by the pool or relax on the beach. 
Lights snacks are served from 3:00 pm.
 

TEHUTU BAR

The Tehutu Bar, open from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
 
Adjacent to the Vanille restaurant, the Tehutu Bar is the place to be for evening cocktails, with an exhaustive choice of cocktails and drinks as well as the tapas selection from the Chef!

Scuba Diving

Immerse yourself into the world of silence as you dive into the warm Tahitian waters. Our scuba diving programs include some dive expeditions that will take you the deep magnificence of Taha'a and Raiatea lagoons. Whether you are a certified diver or wish to discover scuba diving, seize the opportunity to explore the beauties of the underwater world. Taha'a Diving has opened its door on Motu Tautau, steps from Le Taha'a's reception area.
 
Taha'a Diving is part of the 'Te Moana Diving Pass', gathering 16 dive centers in 12 islands (Eleuthera in Tahiti, Nemo World in Bora Bora, The Six Passengers in Rangiroa, Scubapiti, Mahana Dive in Huahine and Fun Dive in Moorea to only name a few).
 
The 'Te Moana Diving Pass' is a 10-dive pass to use in the islands and dive centers affiliated to the program.

 

Excursions

Having 2 islands (Raiatea and Taha'a) sharing the same lagoon is (besides being a quite unique feature) door open to a large variety of excursions. Whether you are into culture and history, hiking, scuba diving, snorkeling, scuba diving, virgin islets exploration, Waverunner adventure, jeep safari tours, nature discovery, sunset cruises, helicopters tours, you will find your perfect Taha'a! Our Guests Relations will assist you in choosing the best tours to make your stay in the islands the most enriching, exciting, and fun. Private options are available.

 

Please note: Le Taha'a works with outside operators for the excursions. A minimum number of guests is required for the tours to operate. For that reason, we recommend bookings to be done on-site rather than in advance. Furthermore, we would like to remind you that tours are weather permitting.
